![]() It is charmingly located, with attractive grounds, and many of the visitors looked happy. But the tradeoff was a remarkably unemotive and crabby staff, a stiff bed that transmitted each others' movements (memory foam, please!), and a smaller darker space than the one-bedroom suite information suggested. We booked this as an alternative to the Marriott-local charm, more space, continental breakfast. While there is some room for improvement, I believe I would stay there again. Parking was easy since we visited during the off season. Coffee, tea was available as well as juices. It appeared as promised cold cereal, pastries, etc. 5 minutes later, shut off and never came back on. The music came one and we're glad to hear it. It was a little odd there were speakers by the pool (Bose, looked like rocks). There is minimal view from this area due to the red mangrove trees that are the foundation of the Keys. We didn't use the sitting area beyond the pool (hammocks and Adirondack chairs) but others did. They looked nice for a larger sized group. These have large screened in porches overlooking the ocean. The multi-bedroom suites appear to be in the 3rd building. Not a major issue but minimizes one's privacy if that is what is desired. When I saw the rooms, I'm further glad I did because the screened in areas, while facing the pool area, had a walkway between the room and the view, so people will be walking outside your 'porch'. While I would have liked that, I didn't find the extra expense worth it so we passed. Regarding the layout of the hotel otherwise, there are screened in rooms in the center building, which are more expensive than non-screened. Also, the room could use a 2nd chair (in the evening when the bugs chased us inside, only seating for 1) and there should be a lamp on the desk. It would have been great to have a screen on the sliding door as well, to be able to sleep with the doors open. I'm unclear since 201 was available, we weren't given the better room. Ours was only wide enough for two chairs to face each other (couldn't even face the water) and a small table in between. Room 201 had the exact same layout as 202 (the door was left open all weekend so I peeked in, did not enter) however the balcony was probably 2 1/2 times the size of 202. Just a couple of issues with the assignment of this room. We were 1 door away from the breakfast / lobby room. I was told while making my reservation and again at checkin that room 202 was one of the best rooms and from what I could see, I agree. The first 'floor' is parking only so rooms start at 201. Other rooms had only pool views and some rooms on the top floor of the center building had no balconies. The location of our room enabled me to catch the sunrise each morning. Our view was the slips for boats and Snappers restaurant next door. We were in the 'Lodge' building which shares 4 rooms with the lobby and registration desk. The hotel is a combination of 3 buildings.
